At Tortuga, culture is not a concept — it’s a living rhythm.
We don’t just host occasional events. Every plate, every detail, every encounter reflects the deeper spirit of Naxos. Our ingredients are harvested from the island’s own soil — from trusted local producers, small family farms, and even our own olive trees. This is not a trend for us. It’s the way we live, the way we cook, and the way we honour the land.
We don’t offer standard “cooking classes.” But if you join us at the right moment, you might find yourself helping knead bread with a local grandmother or learning the secret of Naxian pies under the trees.
Every October, we host a deeply personal annual festival “A night under the olive tree” in the ancient olive grove of my great-grandfather — a living homage to memory, land, and legacy. It’s a quiet celebration of stories, food, and community, offered with love.
Community Roots & Cultural Engagement
Tortuga is more than a restaurant. It’s a space of connection — where culture is passed on, and community is nurtured.
We are proud to support local initiatives that uplift the youth and the spirit of Naxos:
- Local School Teams – because every child deserves encouragement.
- Naxos Youth Initiatives – from “Naxos Good News”, a children-led platform that shares positive island stories, to photography seminars that help young people see their world with new eyes.
- Educational Visits – offering farm-to-table learning, storytelling days, and nature experiences for students not only from Naxos but from Greece and Cyprus.
- Lennart Neubauer, world champion in freestyle surfing, a true embodiment of Naxian excellence, courage, and global spirit.
To us, engagement means more than visibility. It means presence. Roots. And responsibility.
